HIKING AND BIKING

Picture
Do you like to hike in the mountains, or would you rather walk through the forest or along the water? Experience the rugged nature in the mountains, which extend above the tree line. Or take a lovely walk along lakes and rivers. Would you rather take a city walk and visit a few cultural highlights, such as the Wasaloop trail or an old factory? It is all possible in Dalarna. All you have to do is make a choice and head out! Various routes are available.

Cycling is great from Säfsen in the south of Dalarna to Idre Fjäll in the north. Exciting trails in the dense forests and through mountainous terrain. In Sälen, Gesunda and Idre you can take a lift directly to the top of the mountain and then only have to rip down with your mountain bike. If you are looking for a slightly more comfortable route, there is also plenty. Cycling destinations such as Mora, Orsa Grönklitt, Säfsen, Falun, Malung-Sälen, Rättvik and Idre work together in the Biking Dalarna project, which ensures good signage, top service when it comes to accommodation and food, excellent guides and rental of all kinds of bicycles .

FISHING

Or maybe you prefer to experience the magic feeling of walking on a frozen lake. Fish for trout and artic char through a hole in the ice. Depending of weather and season we choose what lake or tarn we will go fishing in.

Want to go with a guide? There are also plenty of bear or beaver safaris to do throughout the region. You can even go out looking for beavers in the evening with a canoe!

Want to look closer at the wildlife? Fortunately, there are plenty of opportunities: In the Elk Park Långshyttan in the south of Dalarna you are sure to meet the king of the forest. In Öjvallberget in Särna-Fulufjället you can meet the moose Bosse and Lena and their children. Do you want to face a bear at an appropriate distance, ofcouse!. SURVIVAL

Swedes they know what wilderness is. Many Swedes also know how to survive there. You can eat nettle well and it is so strong that you can even make rope from the fibers. Real survivalers catch a nice fish with such a piece of rope, without a rod! But .... this is all for the advanced. Survivals start with making a fire to keep you warm in the forest. You will learn this during the kids survival training under the guidance of an experienced guide. Also to keep the fire burning, of course. Once the fire is crackling well, you can roast sausages on it.

KOPPLA AV

don't forget to relax!

So much things to do and see... don't forget to relax from time to time!
In Sweden we have a word for it: koppla av. It means calm and comfortable time with people you love. A complete absence of frustrations or anything emotionally overwhelming, often enjoyed with good food and drinks, warm blankets and candlelight.
